Permaculture

Permaculture is a design philosophy that seeks to incorporate patterns expressed in the natural world and applies them to a master layout of a property, community, or the world around us.  In permaculture we observe how nature works to recycle resources and create closed systems to maximize efficiency in energy and materials and minimize waste.  Permaculture includes design elements of building, animal husbandry, organic gardening, and overall master planning to create a "closed" system that works in harmony with it's surroundings.

In the first week of this "Intro to Permaculture" course, I will be introducing the class to basic fundamentals, philosophies, and principles surrounding permaculture design.  Students will be encouraged and taught how to observe the world as limitless potentials and not overwhelming obstacles.

In the second week we will take these observations and put them into practical application through hands on gardening, composting, and opportunities to exercise their designing with guidance
