The North Fork Valley, heralded as one of
the premier organic growing areas in the United States, produces some of the finest
Colorado-and-organically-grown food available, and the range of knowledge in
the arena of sustainable agriculture is unsurpassed. Learn how to raise
poultry (without "falling in love with them"), channel the
mysteries of bio-dynamics, keep honeybees alive (against all odds), and much,
much more, from the farmers and gardeners who are doing it now. SASS, Sustainable Agricultural School and
Services offers a variety of agricultural and sustainable lifestyle classes
and workshops, held on location—farm, classroom, community hall,
etc.—in and around the North Fork Valley. Initial offerings include introduction to
permaculture, raising poultry, soil science and microorganisms, pasture
management, composting, no-till gardening & farming, butchering, beginning
wine-making, small-scale grain-growing, growing cut-flowers organically,
treatment-free beekeeping, ornamental and edible plant & tree pruning,
dairy management, low-energy food-storage methods, intro to bow-hunting,
cheese & yogurt-making, lavender production, bread-making workshops, dairy goat management, cheese-making,
and
organic orchard management. Our class and workshop schedules are
evolving, and can be viewed in calendar form here. To sign-up, simply download the registration form, print and mail it with your check. Please
note: if youÕre trying to register for a workshop being offered within the
